Valentine's Day 2013

We have a LOVELY day, no pun intended.  I made pink pancakes in the shape of hearts for the girls for breakfast.  I tried to make everything into a heart for Mikaela for her lunch, heart strawberries, heart brownie, heart pbj.  I took Addison to Gymboree and we had lots of fun playing with the other kids.  The theme this week was mail.  After getting home from picking Mikaela up from school we looked at all her Valentine's from her friends.  For dinner the heart food continues.  I made cheese heart shaped raviolis with heart shaped garlic bread.  We did a late dinner so we could eat with Matt.  The girls wore their matching cheetah pj's to bed last night.

Valentine's Mailboxes

I made these mini mailboxes this year for the family.  It was such a simple and inexpensive project and I had lots of fun doing it.  Each day since February 1st I have left a heart with something written on it for the girls. (Matt got a couple too)  Each morning they both can't wait to go open their mailbox and see what color their heart is and what it says.  Mikaela really enjoyed trying to read them herself.  After they read them they would then get some tape and go put them on the door to their rooms.  This was Addison's favorite part.  She also liked telling me what color they were.  She really knows purple and pink.  Working on the others still.  Today was the last day of hearts in our mailboxes.

Lucille's Celebration

In honor of Mikaela learning all 30 of her first sight words (we worked hard on this) we told her we were going to take her to dinner.  She choose Lucille's (that a girl, BBQ all the way).  We went to the Long Beach Town Center and enjoyed a nice dinner together.  We are so proud of you Mikaela.  Way to go.

100 Days of School

Today was the 100th day of school.  It was a very fun day for the Kindergarten classes.  This week Mikaela had to take a bag that had 100 of something in it.  She counted out 100 candy hearts.  We took Sarah, Mikaela's friend from class, with us to school on Friday.  After lunch the kids put on their 100 capes, 100 glasses, 100 hats, and held their Zero the Hero and went on a little parade through some of the other classes at school.  Congratulations Mikaela on 100 days of Kindergarten.  This means you are much closer into becoming a 1st grader than I want. (growing up so fast)
